Kenneth W. Baer

Ken Baer joined HWE in 2005 as Vice President. He is also Chief Financial Officer and a Founding Partner of National Resort & Club Management.

He has been responsible for various due diligence projects, capital planning, business and asset valuations, development and implementation of technology and control systems.

For twelve years, Baer served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Club Resorts. He was a key participant in the growth of the company’s resort business. Mr. Baer led the “envisioning” for the combined brands of The Pinehurst Company and directed strategic planning. During his tenure Mr. Baer was responsible for the acquisition and disposition of several resorts as The Pinehurst Company realigned its resort assets with its geographic and market strategies. He was responsible for all accounting, finance and information technology systems.

Prior to his experience with Club Resorts and Pinehurst, Mr. Baer served as Corporate Controller, Regional Controller and Regional Manager for Regal-Aircoa Hotels and Resorts (and its multiple operating and real estate subsidiaries), at the time the largest independent hotel and resort manager in the United States. He also served as Controller for a large ski destination, the Keystone Resort in Colorado.

Mr. Baer and his wife live in Pinehurst where he previously served as Chairman of the Moore County Schools Board of Education. Mr. Baer was a member of the Public Education Foundation, and served on the Executive Committee of both the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Open Championships and as a director of the Sandhills Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Baer is a CPA and holds a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting from the University of Denver. He is a licensed real estate broker in the state of North Carolina and a Certified Hotel Administrator. Mr. Baer has extensive experience in the purchase and sale of resort properties and has served as an advisor and agent for such transactions. Ken and his wife Barb have two children.
